Setser 12th in Kokomo Smackdown finale; USAC schedule to continue September 5 at Tri-City
Gunnar Setser, a 2025 USAC National Sprint Cars Rookie of the Year contender, rolled into Kokomo Speedway's annual Smackdown with high hopes and big ambitions, and although the young man out of Columbus, Indiana, was just short of attaining a top-ten finish in the weekend headliner, his overall accomplishments were just as impressive, capping the three-day venture with a 12th-place score in the $31,000 Smackdown finale on Saturday, August 23.
In fact, Setser qualified for each of the Kokomo Smackdown main events contested, launching action with a 17th-place score on Thursday followed by a tenth-place score on Friday; he started 12th.
The 2025 USAC National Sprint Cars schedule will continue on Friday, September 5, with a visit to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. Action will follow at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, on Saturday.
