Setser competes in USAC doubleheader in Indiana
The USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship brought Indiana native Gunnar Setser to a pair of home-state ovals over the weekend.
Competing in Friday’s Larry Rice Classic at Bloomington Speedway, Setser endured a challenging start in preliminary action but rebounded with a runner-up finish in the consolation race to earn a spot in the main event. Charging forward 14 positions in the feature, his strong run was cut short by a flat right-rear tire with three laps remaining, ultimately relegating him to a 19th-place finish.
At Tri-State Speedway’s Spring Showdown on Saturday, Setser impressed early by clocking the second-fastest time in a competitive 32-car field before notching a third-place effort in his heat race. However, he was unable to maintain that momentum in the feature and slipped to a 14th-place result.
